The Dogue de Bordeaux like other breeds can develop certain health issues, not all will but there are some health concerns to be aware of especially when you maybe looking for a puppy or adult to join your family, or if you may be considering including your dog/bitch in a breeding program.
Alongside you will find a list of conditions mostly associated with large Brachycephalic breeds like the DDB.
‘Currently The Dogue De Bordeaux is a category 3 breed on the
breed watch list with the Kennel Club’
The Kennel Club has identified a number of breeds and designated them as 'Category Three' on Breed Watch, due to to visible conditions that can cause pain or discomfort due to exaggerations. The Kennel Club works closely with the clubs for these breeds in identifying key issues to be addressed within the breed, obtaining the opinion of breed experts on the issues identified, advising on how breed clubs can effectively address health and conformational issues and investigating how the Kennel Club can assist. Currently a Best Of Breed DDB Winner at Championship Show Level will be assessed by a Vet at the Show before he/she can enter further into the Working Group Competition.

The Northern Dogue De Bordeaux Club are working with the Kennel club to ensure our members are kept informed on key breed subjects, especially concerning health and the breed watch points the Kennel Club want us to explain in more depth.
We all know the breed on the High profile list but do we all understand why? This pack will include information to the points of concern, how much of a concern they are, why they are a concern and possible solutions and guidance created by The Northern Dogue De Bordeaux Club.
This is information we all need before exhibiting and more importantly deciding to breed our dogues!
As well as information this pack will include lots of goodies!
Inside the pack will contain:
Raw feeding guide booklets
Small bag of Dog Food
Samples of nutritional supplements
Dogue organisations and rescue info
Poop bag key ring holder
And possibly even more
These packs will be available to new members who join our club free of charge!
They will also be available to breeders who are members of the club for small donation of £2 per pack, to give to their new puppy owners when they breed a healthy litter.
The written information will be made available to anyone of course but the puppy packs will be for our members only (subject to availability, contents may vary) Please bear in mind these packs are not designed for profit and any monies made will go into making the packs better and better with each batch we create.
